Heavenly Risk Takers 2 Samuel 23:13-17  Bro. Jim delves deep into his cache of sermons to explain to us that we should be “Heavenly Risk Takers” in our daily walk. That we shouldn’t be complacent and just recline in our spiritual easy chairs but go out and make a difference as we are in the last days and we have been chosen to make a difference. Bro. Jim also informs us that Bro. Steve Terrell and his family are moving back to Lake City to start a bivocational ministry. Bro. Steve has had a huge impact on our church since he came here nearly two years ago. We will surely miss him and his family and we wish them all the blessings of God in their decision to follow where the Lord leads them.

Head Waiters Acts 6:1-7  Bro. Jim instructs us from the book of Acts about the duties ascribed to the position of deacon and  the prerequisites for candidacy to be a deacon as we prepare to choose which men will serve our congregation in the coming year.

Being Rapture Ready I Thessalonians 4:13-18  Bro. Jim tells us of the rapture of the church and how we should be prepared as there are no prophesies that have to happen before Jesus comes to catch us up in the air with Him. He shows us that the story of Lot being rescued from Sodom and Gomorrah has a direct correlation to the rapture of Christ’s Church.

Lessons From Lot  2 Peter 2:6-9 First we are presented with a brief word from Shannon Bruner, Director of the Pregnancy Care Center of Trumann about how they are using their ministry to help young men and women who find themselves in trouble in our area.  Bro. Jim then uses the story of Sodom and Gomorrah to remind us that we are aliens in this world, that we should recognize the authority of God and that we should refocus our attitude of prayer and preparation.  We feel that the Lord is using Mrs. Bruner and her organization to do some necessary work in our area and we support them in their endeavors.  Jude 1:3 Contend For The Faith Bro. Jim, in a deviation from his prepared message for the evening, makes a heartfelt, stern appeal to us from the book of Jude to contend for the faith God has given us. He encourages us to take a stand for God and to measure up to lost people and their evil influences before us in this world which sees wrong as right and right as wrong.

Proverbs 29:2 Favor or Funeral?  Bro. Jim poses the question, Favor or Funeral? as he uses Proverbs 29:2 as an example of how the presence of righteousness in our leaders can lead to our nation obtaining favor from God.  Whereas if we have leaders who are wicked, the people groan as if they are at a funeral and God shows them no favor due to their wicked ways. He describes our nation as being in a crisis of leadership and shows us that we often elect leaders in order for them to enact laws which we desire instead of electing people who put righteousness before their personal agendas and display a Godly character.

Matthew 12:1-8 & Hosea 6:6 Mercy, Not Sacrifice - The Conflict of Christ  Bro. Steve uses a story of Jesus dealing with the Pharisees from the book of Matthew to describe how Jesus came to fulfil the law, not to destroy it. He shows us that from what God has given us for good, man has turned to bad. He also uses these scriptures to explain that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, the Lord of Love, the Lord of the Law and the Lord of All.

Matthew 27:35 Grievance Against Gambling Be sure to listen to this message from Bro. Jim opposing the upcoming amendment to allow a state lottery in Arkansas. He makes a passionate case against gambling by showing us how it breaks God’s laws, creates social problems and desecrates God’s sovereign providence using some powerful examples from The Bible.

Psalm 37:4-5 God Wants You Bro. Jim encourages us to be still and listen to the Lord. He tells us to run to Him and to surrender to His greatness by delighting ourselves in Him.

Psalm 37:1-7 The Woes of Wall Street  Bro. Jim discusses the current monitary situation and how worldly thinking applies to the everyday lives of Christians in this morning message.

On October 6, 2008 we at First Baptist Church of Lepanto, Arkansas were proud to host the seventy-first annual session of the Trinity Baptist Association. We present here for the first time, a recording of the entire event. A large part of the day’s activities was dedicated to worshipping God. There were several sermons, lots of singing and a Bible Study on the book of Exodus by Dr. Tim Deahl of the Arkansas State Baptist Convention. Acts 2:41-47 The Church’s Makeup Bro. Jim concludes his series on “Are We There Yet?” with this sermon which continues to remind us to try to conform to the ways of the first church as depicted in Acts.
